Low-cost robotics expands access to humanoid systems

The market for mobile service and industrial robots continues to grow. According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), approximately 200,000 service robots were sold worldwide in 2024, with 51 percent deployed in transport and logistics applications. Against this backdrop, igus is introducing new low-cost robotics solutions designed to simplify automation deployment and reduce integration complexity.

Humanoid robotics with simplified integration
Humanoid robots are considered particularly suitable for environments involving variable processes and frequent location changes. However, widespread adoption is often limited by high investment costs and complex implementation requirements. igus addresses these barriers with cost-optimized system architectures, lubrication-free motion plastics components, and new AI-based control technologies.

Maintenance-free joint bearings, highly flexible chainflex cables, and linear actuators form the mechanical foundation for reliable movement. In parallel, igus is developing AI-driven control systems intended to enable intuitive commissioning based on the principle “Teaching by showing, speaking, everything but programming,” allowing operation through gesture and voice commands instead of traditional coding.

A first milestone was the introduction of the humanoid robot “Iggy Rob,” built on the ReBeL Move platform and equipped with two ReBeL cobot arms. With a price of €47,999, the system is positioned significantly below conventional humanoid platforms. Additional in-house humanoid models are expected to be available on the RBTX online platform in time for Hannover Messe 2026.

RBTX as a manufacturer-independent integration ecosystem
The RBTX platform functions as a modular marketplace for robotics components. Around 260 manufacturers currently offer compatible modules based on a building-block principle. To date, 95 percent of implemented automation solutions have been priced below €18,000. By the time of the trade fair, the platform is expected to feature 95 humanoid models from 35 manufacturers.

igus aims to expand RBTX into a comprehensive service hub for complete automation solutions. In addition to offering compatibility-assured components, the platform is set to provide AI-based matching with certified integration partners, covering the entire process from initial inquiry and implementation to long-term support.

Autonomous intralogistics with pallet mover
In the field of mobile robotics, igus is expanding its portfolio with the ReBeL Pallet Mover, an autonomous forklift designed for intralogistics applications. Available versions support payload capacities of 300 kg, 1,400 kg, and 1,500 kg. The entry price for the 300 kg model is €67,340, with a projected return on investment of 12 to 18 months.

By combining autonomous mobile robots, humanoid systems, and AI-driven control technologies, igus aims to make robotics economically accessible and accelerate automation adoption in small and medium-sized industrial environments.
