Avalue Technology launched its BMX Series industrial desktop barebone systems to support configurable edge AI computing in factory automation and machine vision. The new lineup includes BMX-P550, BMX-P820A, and BMX-P850.
Barebones designed for integrators building edge AI systems
The BMX Series is built around a “barebone-first” approach: the chassis, motherboard, and power supply are provided as a pre-validated base configuration, intended to shorten deployment and system verification cycles. At the same time, the series is meant to stay flexible for customization, allowing system integrators to scale compute and expansion depending on workload.
The platforms are aimed at deployments such as AI-driven factory automation, smart surveillance, digital display systems, and industrial edge computing—applications where requirements vary across sites but reliability and platform longevity remain constant needs.
BMX-P550 targets compact edge AI inference and industrial control
The BMX-P550 is designed for space-limited edge environments, built into a compact 5.7 L industrial chassis while still supporting 14th Gen Intel® Core™ processors and DDR5 memory. For industrial networking, it integrates dual Intel gigabit Ethernet (I219LM + I226V), aligning it with industrial control and gateway roles where stable wired connectivity is important.
Expansion is supported via PCIe Gen4 x16 and M.2, enabling add-ons such as GPUs, AI accelerators, or wireless modules. For operator-facing deployments, it supports triple display output through HDMI plus two DP++ connections. The system is based on a Mini-ITX motherboard design and supports two half-size expansion slots (shared with one full-size slot), targeting compact inference, automation, and industrial control use cases.
BMX-P820A is built for line-side AI vision and inspection
For smart manufacturing deployments focused on real-time vision analytics, the BMX-P820A is positioned as a Micro-ATX barebone platform tailored for AI vision acceleration and defect inspection at the line side. Like the rest of the BMX series, it supports 14th Gen Intel® Core™ processors and DDR5 memory, but differentiates itself through PCIe Gen5 x16 GPU support aimed at high-performance vision workloads.
Its chassis is designed to support up to four full-height expansion slots, with total expansion capacity reaching up to four slots depending on the motherboard configuration. It supports both Mini-ITX and Micro-ATX motherboards and includes rich industrial I/O along with industrial-grade storage support. In manufacturing terms, the system is aimed at enabling real-time defect detection and inspection workflows that can help reduce scrap and improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
BMX-P850 scales up to industrial AI workstation-class expansion
At the top end, the BMX-P850 is positioned as a high-density industrial AI workstation platform designed for maximum expandability and long-term continuous operation. It supports 14th Gen Intel® Core™ processors and DDR5 memory, with motherboard compatibility spanning ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX configurations.
The chassis supports up to seven full-height expansion slots and is optimized for higher-performance GPU setups, making it suitable for demanding AI workloads such as industrial vision systems or centralized edge compute nodes. Avalue also emphasizes thermal and mechanical design considerations aligned with 24/7 industrial operation.
What stays consistent across the BMX Series
Across BMX-P550, BMX-P820A, and BMX-P850, Avalue’s common platform approach is clear: pre-validated barebone foundations to speed deployment, paired with flexible PCIe, M.2, and GPU expansion for edge AI workloads. The series is framed around industrial-grade reliability and AI-ready architecture aimed at supporting edge AI and smart manufacturing deployments over longer operational lifecycles.
