SCHMALZ AT FACHPACK: THREE ROBOTS, TWO JUMBOS AND LOTS OF ANSWERS
Schmalz promises its visitors "Handling Solutions for your Packages" on stand 4-260 at FACHPACK in Nuremberg. What stands behind the claim are custom-fit solutions for challenges posed by booming online trade and gigantic distribution centres. Schmalz will also be showing how ergonomic handling solutions can be used exactly where they are needed.
The bag is booming. Compared to the cardboard box, it saves the packer material and the transport service provider volume in his vehicle. To enable the unstable polybags or paper bags to be gripped dynamically and reliably in logistics centres, J. Schmalz GmbH has developed a new bellows suction pad. The 4.5-fold high FSGC can adapt well to different workpiece contours. Visitors to FACHPACK 2022 can also see another newly developed suction pad in action on a robot at stand 4-260. The combination of a soft sealing lip and a stable bellows allows the PSPF gripper to securely grip even thin bags filled with liquid. The large shaft diameters of the suction pads allow a high volume flow and thus maximise the holding forces. This is especially important for particularly dynamic processes.
Right next to the fixed robot cell, the ZLW lightweight layer gripper demonstrates how it lifts layers of cans, jars or cardboard boxes weighing up to 20 kilograms at a time. Depending on the configuration, it weighs between 4 and 14 kilograms and is therefore ideal for integration on lightweight robots. Since smaller robots require less power, the ZLW is a solution for sustainable automation. It is always fascinating when a robot masters complex processes such as reaching into a box. An important task is performed by the interaction of camera technology, software and bin-picking gripper. Schmalz shows how this is done properly with a Cobot application in the centre of its stand.
Ergonomics without limits
Schmalz makes manual handling processes easier on the back even when a crane cannot actually be installed with its JumboFlex Picker or the new KBG crane gantry. The new crane gantry allows the installation of an aluminium crane system and thus the use of an ergonomic lifting solution wherever, for example, the statics preclude direct ceiling mounting. The new crane gantry from Schmalz is designed as a modular system that allows for quick and cost-effective assembly and can be individually adapted to the customer's requirements. The JumboFlex Picker takes a different approach: the user can simply take the tube lifter with his industrial truck to wherever he needs it. In this way, he simply takes the ergonomics with him and can distribute goods to different storage locations or further processing sites.
Under the trade fair motto "Handling Solutions for your Packaging", Schmalz is directly addressing the guiding theme of "Transition in Packaging" at FACHPACK - because sustainable and digital products will be on display. In this way, the vacuum expert accompanies the packaging industry individually at every single step.
