Turck Adds IO-Link to IP67 CAN Roller Controller

In the intralogistics, material handling and conveyor automation sectors, Turck has expanded its TBEN-LL-4RMC series with new IP67 CAN roller motor controllers featuring integrated IO-Link master ports and 24/48 V support. The modules enable decentralized control of up to four CANopen-based drive rollers directly in the field, eliminating the need for centralized control cabinets.

Decentralized Conveyor Control in IP67
The TBEN-LL-4RMC modules combine motor control, digital I/Os and IO-Link functionality in a rugged IP67 housing designed for field installation. This allows conveyor segments to be automated locally, reducing wiring complexity and cabinet space requirements.

The controller supports CANopen-based motors, including Interroll, MTA and MPC drive rollers. With multi-protocol Ethernet capability, the module can be integrated into common industrial networks without hardware modification.

Turck’s ARGEE logic environment enables programming-free implementation of decentralized control strategies. Preconfigured logic blocks simplify the deployment of zero pressure accumulation (ZPA) and other conveyor control concepts.

IO-Link Integration for Smart Field Devices
The new variants feature integrated IO-Link master ports, allowing direct connection of smart sensors and actuators such as signal towers, pressure sensors or identification devices.

Standard M12 L-coded power connectors ensure compatibility with established field wiring concepts. This simplifies system design and supports modular expansion of conveyor sections.

By integrating IO-Link at the field level, the controller enables parameterization and diagnostics of connected devices without additional gateways.

24 V and 48 V Drive Support
The availability of both 24 V and 48 V versions reflects the increasing adoption of 48 V drive systems in intralogistics and production logistics.

Operating at 48 V allows reduced cable cross-sections and extended cable lengths compared to 24 V systems. This can improve overall power distribution efficiency and reduce material costs in large conveyor installations.

The module’s power architecture supports this transition while maintaining compatibility with existing 24 V infrastructure.

Product Variants
Turck offers four variants in the series:
  • TBEN-LLH-4RMC
  • TBEN-LL-4RMC
  • TBEN-LLH-4RMC-2IOL
  • TBEN-LL-4RMC-2IOL
The “2IOL” versions include integrated IO-Link master functionality for enhanced field device connectivity.

Application Scope
The IP67 CAN roller motor controller is suited for:
  • Modular conveyor systems in distribution centers
  • Zero pressure accumulation zones
  • Production logistics lines
  • Material flow systems requiring decentralized intelligence
By combining CANopen motor control, IO-Link integration and robust field-ready housing, the extended TBEN-LL-4RMC series supports scalable, cabinet-free conveyor automation aligned with modern intralogistics architectures.
