Ideal for miniaturization in electronics production, the depaneling machine SAL-1300 combines laser and milling technology in one machine.
At the productronica 2025, SCHUNK Electronic Solutions will present its versatile portfolio for electronics manufacturing production from a single source: from proven stand-alone machines to fully integrated inline systems. The focus is on modular, flexible, and customized processes that enable efficient production. The world's leading trade fair for electronics development and manufacturing will take place in Munich from November 18 to 21, 2025.
Electronics can be found in almost all modern products – from headlights to electric toothbrushes. The expertise of SCHUNK Electronic Solutions comes into play wherever electronic assemblies are produced — whether in medical technology, aerospace, or automotive applications. At the productronica 2025, the company will demonstrate how precision, flexibility, and cleanliness can be cleverly combined in electronics production to optimize production efficiency and secure long-term growth opportunities.
Connected systems for modern electronics manufacturing
SCHUNK Electronic Solutions stands for high-tech systems in electronics manufacturing. Milling, sawing, or lasering – the depaneling machines from SCHUNK are powerful process components for depaneling PCBs that can be adapted to customer-specific requirements in a modular and flexible manner. In addition to the depaneling machines, SCHUNK will also present integrated solutions for board handling, including modules for handling printed circuit boards and automating the entire process. The exemplary double loader acts as a central interface and enables integration into comprehensive automation concepts – designed to flexibly meet future customer requirements as well.

The flexible stand-alone depaneling machine SAR-1300 combines milling and sawing, and reliably covers a wide variety of PCB layouts.
Proven technology, maximum flexibility
The depaneling machine SAR-1300 reliably covers a wide variety of PCB layouts with its combination of milling and sawing. Its patented MAGNOPLATE workpiece holder system enables fast and flexible set-up with a wide range of variants. Magnetic pins can be easily positioned in no time through programming, allowing users to design their own individual workpiece holder. Another special feature is the Dust Reduce Booster. For clean processes and a healthy production environment, it reduces dust residues during milling by up to 70 percent. The SAR-1300 can also meet increasing demands, such as unattended night shifts, increased throughput, or autonomous operation over a relatively long period of time. Equipped with an optional cobot, which takes over the loading and unloading of the PCBs, and the SCHUNK board handling systems, the SAR-1300 becomes a scalable automation solution.
Precise cutting with laser and milling cutter
The depaneling machine SAL-1300 offers two technologies in one: with laser and milling. The combination offers new options for applications with the highest quality requirements. The laser separates PCBs without generating dust or mechanical stress, making it particularly gentle on sensitive components. At the same time, it is ideal for miniaturization in electronics manufacturing. The right solution is available for every material thanks to a broad portfolio of laser sources.
The double shuttle system makes it possible to laser on one shuttle and mill on the other. This means that the processes can be carried out in parallel or in combination, which makes them particularly suitable for sensitive Rigid Flex printed circuit boards consisting of rigid and flexible components, for example.

Seamlessly integrated into the process chain, the ILR Performance separates PCBs with high precision.
Complete end-of-line solutions from one source
The depaneling machine ILR Performance is usually seamlessly integrated into a process chain inline. However, it can also be individually adapted to customer processes – from automated loading through to placement in the storage rack. The set-up on display at the trade fair was created in close partnership with the automation experts from Omron and shows how the ILR depaneling machine flexibly completes a process in cooperation with other systems: An AMR robot from Omron takes over the loading, and a SCHUNK double loader feeds the panels. After the highly precise separation operation in the ILR, the PCBs pass through a processing station for testing, cleaning, automatic optical inspection, dispensing, or other steps, as required. The assemblies are then automatically recognized, gripped, and deposited by SCHUNK's AI-supported 2D Grasping Kit, which won the HERMES AWARD in 2024. The storage rack demonstrates SCHUNK's versatility: from the palletizer and the flat belt through to the transfer by shuttle. The modular design allows extensions to be added even during operation – for maximum flexibility and future readiness.
