The German distributor Acceed is expanding its range of industrial box controllers with the fanless compact computer POC-764VR, which has been specially developed for video analysis and object recognition. In addition to the robust design tailored to industrial applications, the new controller impresses with its reliable high computing power and offers HD image recording, real-time detection and data analysis with support for various sensors. The possibility of remote access improves safety and efficiency and reduces operating costs.
With its Intel processor of the Alder Lake generation with eight cores (15 W TDP) and the 32 EUs HD graphics chip, the new POC-764VR not only delivers impressive computing power with moderate energy consumption, but also enables AI inference development in real time, for example with the AI toolkit OpenVINO from Intel. As well as being ideal for use as an entry-level surveillance platform for security and traffic control in logistics areas, company premises and public spaces, the robust system is also suitable for edge computing applications in areas such as factory automation, smart manufacturing and general IoT integration.
Up to four high-resolution IP cameras can be connected to the PoE+ ports on the front. For image recording, the system is equipped with an integrated hardware RAID controller that supports two 2.5-inch hard drives (HDD or SSD) in RAID 0/1 configuration and thus offers extensive storage capacity. The additional 2.5 GbE port enables fast and energy-efficient data exchange with the backbone infrastructure, while two mini PCIe sockets can accommodate wireless modules for WLAN, LTE/5G or CAN bus modules. The connections to the four USB 3.2 ports can be secured by screwing - an important measure when installing on moving structures or in vehicles.
With proven shock and vibration resistance and an extended operating temperature range of -10 to +70 °C (with fan kit installed), the POC-764VR offers maximum reliability and durability even in demanding environments. The high-quality aluminium housing ensures excellent heat dissipation and protects the system from overheating and failure. The POC-764VR is also prepared for mobile applications in vehicles, for example monitoring tasks at changing locations. Thanks to its ergonomic design with I/O connections directly on the front and preparation for top-hat rail and wall mounting, it can be easily installed in different locations and quickly put into operation. With 8 to 35 V, direct current supply is possible over a wide range. The compact dimensions of just 176 x 116 x 68 mm also allow installation in housings and confined spaces.
