KUKA is expanding its iiQKA.mxAutomation software interface to include the industry standard via SRCI and is cooperating with Siemens for the integration. SRCI enables companies to integrate robotics even more flexibly into their production processes. The interface is compatible with the new KR C5 controller for iiQKA.OS2.
“Easy to use": even more flexibility through expansion
Seamless robot integration into complex production systems with the help of a central interface – this is how “easy to use” works. In a joint development process with the leading technology company Siemens, the iiQKA.mxAutomation interface from KUKA is now being expanded to include the SRCI industry standard. This extension ensures that robots from different manufacturers can be integrated into the PLC environment in a standardized way – regardless of the robot or PLC manufacturer.
This gives KUKA customers using iiQKA.mxAutomation even more flexibility in the intuitive, fast and simple configuration and operation of their robot systems. The established functions and libraries from the previous versions of mxAutomation can still be used as an alternative to SRCI.

iiQKA.mxAutomation is compatible with the KR C5 robot controller for iiQKA.OS2 and is therefore ideal for future-oriented production. KUKA robots can be connected to common PLC systems via the software interface, which enables the seamless integration of robotics without specific KUKA Engineering know-how. The central programming solution saves time and money, especially for companies that want to automate their production with little prior knowledge. iiQKA.mxAutomation with the SRCI extension will be available in the third quarter of 2025.
The addition of SRCI to the iiQKA.mxAutomation software interface in cooperation with Siemens makes automated industrial production even simpler and more flexible.
