Drive systems and pulleys on conveyor systems are among the areas that have a particularly high risk potential for operating personnel. To safeguard these hazardous areas, Schmersal not only offers appropriate safety switches and solenoid interlocks, but protective fences and guard doors as well.

A new solution for this type of protective device is the DHS door handle system: the door handle unites the functions of a robust door handle with display of individual machine states using illumination in the handle itself. The handle signals different machine states over its area using seven different colours. The user can control the colours individually in order to signal defined machine states. The door handle system can be operated in conjunction with the AZM40 and AZM300 safety interlocks or as a fully stand-alone solution.

Command and signalling devices for harsh environments
Schmersal offers a wide range of command and signalling devices for the operation, control and monitoring of conveyor systems. Devices in the R range have been designed as ‘heavy-duty’ versions and are suitable for use in harsh environments. The R series is resistant to mechanical loads and can be operated comfortably while wearing gloves. ATEX versions of devices in the R range are also available.

With AI support: the new ‘Rip Prevent+” belt monitoring system
Maximum availability and as little downtime as possible are the absolute fundamentals of bulky goods transport. At bauma 2025, the Schmersal Group and its system partner SHG - Conveyor Control GmbH will demonstrate how Predictive Analytics and Predictive Maintenance can be used to maximise the efficiency of conveyor systems. The new ‘Rip Prevent+’ belt monitoring system from SHG analyses the data from the conveyor belt using an AI-based calculation model.

In addition, the Rip Prevent+ system offers other functions to increase the availability of the conveyor system and provide process information that is relevant to the user. These functions include:
  • Motor monitoring
  • Electrical network analysis
  • Energy efficiency analysis
  • Mass flow calculation
