New 8.3-Megapixel Camera and Processor Boards for Turnkey Solutions

At VISION (October 8-10, Messe Stuttgart), Phytec will showcase its new 8.3-megapixel camera, the phyCAM VM-024, for the first time.

New 8.3-Megapixel Camera and Processor Boards for Turnkey Solutions
Phytec will showcase the VM-024 camera module for the first time at the VISION trade show. This addition enhances their portfolio of industrial-grade board-level cameras and is perfectly aligned with the company's processor boards.

This embedded board-level camera will be available with an MIPI CSI-2 interface and in versions supporting flexible connectivity through coaxial cables. Additionally, Phytec will present development kits featuring the latest processors from NXP and Texas Instruments, along with hardware and software for turnkey solutions.

Two Footprints for Flexible Integration
The phyCAM VM-024 camera module is based on the 8.3-megapixel sensor AR0830 from Onsemi, and is available in both color and monochrome versions. The rolling-shutter sensor offers high resolution, wide dynamic range, and sensitivity up to the NIR spectrum. This makes the Phytec camera ideal for a variety of embedded vision applications, particularly in mobile devices due to its low power consumption. The camera module will be available in the phyCAM standard size of 34 x 34 mm, the smaller phyCAM-M-mini at just 18 x 26 mm, and as a phyCAM-L version with an integrated FPD-Link III interface, allowing for flexible data transmission over coaxial cables up to 15 meters long. Phytec will also unveil a universally applicable backplane designed specifically for the phyCAM-mini series, combining the small footprint of the phyCAM-M-mini with the benefits of FPD-Link data transmission. All three variants will be available for volume production by the end of the year.

Embedded Vision with phyCORE-AM68x
For the Texas Instruments AM68x/TDA4x processor, Phytec is set to present the phyBOARD-Izar Rapid Development Kit at the trade fair, which includes a phyCAM-M camera module. This processor is optimized for complex image processing and AI applications, featuring two Cortex-A72 cores along with dedicated hardware accelerators for image and video processing. These include an integrated ISP, a unit for stereo vision and motion estimation, and an AI accelerator with a performance of 8 TOPS. Additionally, the processor integrates dedicated controllers for safety, security, and device management. More embedded vision kits featuring the latest processors from NXP will also be showcased at the Phytec booth.

Comprehensive Pre-Integration for Fast Development
Phytec’s embedded cameras and processor boards are perfectly aligned with each other and their specific applications. This covers both hardware and the provided Linux board support packages with seamless camera integration, including access to the processor’s ISP. Building on these pre-integrations, the Mainz-based company develops custom solutions, including optical assembly and calibration upon request. Phytec also offers comprehensive services related to device management, IoT, and security.
