Advanced communication at field level: Gefran presents the new KS-I industrial pressure probe with IO-Link interface
Gefran – the Italian multinational group specialised in the design and production of sensors, industrial process control systems, electric drives and automation components – is expanding its range of solutions dedicated to Industry 4.0 by presenting the new KS-I industrial pressure transmitter, equipped with IO-Link 1.1 digital output and advanced diagnostic functions.
The KS family transducers, thanks to the sensitive element made using a proprietary film-deposited technology on a steel membrane, guarantee considerable resistance to mechanical shocks and vibrations and are immune to electromagnetic noises. In addition, the IP67 degree of protection makes the entire range particularly suitable for a wide range of hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
One of the main innovations of the KS-I models is the ability to measure both pressure and temperature, with a sampling frequency of 1,000 times per second. The KS-I probes are able to communicate with the IO-Link Master at COM3 speed, equal to 230.4 Kbaud, the highest available on IO-Link communication. Enhanced connectivity allows the recording of numerous acyclic information, such as the maximum values of pressure and temperature, the peaks reached and the number of hours of work. These are essential for predictive maintenance, from an Industry 4.0 perspective.
With regard to the cyclic data, the presence of two SSC switching logic signal channels, which can be parameterised in detail, and two SIO physical outputs is of particular importance.
Finally, the sensors are available for measuring ranges from 4 bars to 1000 bars, with an accuracy of <±0.5%FS, including non-linearity, hysteresis, repeatability and zero and full-scale offset. Moreover, the extended process temperature range, from -40°C to +125°C, ensures excellent stability in the compensated field.
“Gefran strengthens the portfolio of IO-Link solutions to digitise the data collected at the field level and facilitate the transition of customers to Data Driven Company" “The automation sector increasingly lives on intelligent production processes. In this context, the sensors are called upon to ensure qualitatively more accurate measurements, with a view to optimising performance and preventing possible defaults”. He concludes "The KS-I industrial pressure probe meets these requirements, both in terms of high measurement accuracy and integration with all levels of factory automation”, comments Edoardo Zilioli, Gefran’s Sensors Marketing Manager at Gefran.
