With an unladen weight of 40 kilograms and a payload of 10 kilograms, the CRX-10iA is one of the world’s lightest and most maneuverable industrial robots. The featherweight is a member of the “Cobot” family. This term is used to describe industrial robots that work jointly with people and do not need to be isolated from human contact by protective equipment in the production process. These collaborative robots use sensors to work safely and harmlessly together with their human colleagues. The Fanuc CRX-10iA is therefore perfectly suitable for use in the Fill Future Lab, where young people can gain their first experience of interacting with a robot.

“With the new Cobot, we now cover the entire bandwidth of robots in our Robo Lab: from the ‘Cubetto’ educational robot for three-year-olds through to the Fanuc industrial robot suitable for everyday use by older children from the age of 15,”
says a delighted Andreas Fill, CEO and proprietor of Fill Gesellschaft m.b.H. The Cobot for the Fill Future Lab was provided by Fanuc, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of factory automation, industrial robot, and CNC systems. “Fostering young talent is a major concern for Fanuc. Fill’s Future Lab offers children and young people ideal conditions for arousing their interest in technology and gaining their first experience of robots,” says Thomas Eder, Managing Director of FANUC Österreich GmbH, explaining the motivation behind the collaboration with Fill.

Discovering digital and real spaces
In the form of its Future Lab in Gurten, Upper Austria, Fill has created a unique creative space for digital talent. Covering 140 square meters, the transgenerational “Future Lab” think tank provides very special educational opportunities. Children, young people, and the young at heart can acquaint themselves with technologies of the future in a playful way here. Conceived as an open ideas factory, the Future Lab with its eight laboratories is located at Fill’s headquarters in Gurten. Each laboratory is a self-contained learning unit where attendees can acquaint themselves intuitively with subjects covering digitalization, research, technology, and innovation.

The Robo Lab is part of the Fill Future Lab. Equipped with a wide range of robots (Cubetto, Cozma, Dash, Alpha, Jimu, Robot Arm, Fanuc Cobot CRX-10iA) and the widest variety of control units, this laboratory offers everything to get children, young people, and adults of any age enthusiastic about digitalization and technology. The activities focus not only on familiarization with different types of robots and their applications in everyday use and in industry, but also on programming and controlling the widest variety of movement sequences.
