Leading global integrator: Swisslog strengthens AutoStore offering with new business head
As part of its growth strategy, Swiss intralogistics company Swisslog has expanded its European AutoStore business, coupled with a focus on its own system solutions. With a combination of increased resource focus and innovative technology, Swisslog offers the rapid implementation of complete AutoStore solutions for customers – especially in e-commerce.
ASRS AutoStore: Swisslog is the leading global integrator with over 200 installations.
To further optimize and drive forward their European AutoStore business, Swisslog has appointed Jens Schmale as Head of Swisslog AutoStore Europe, as of 1 September 2020. "We are very pleased to have assigned Jens Schmale, a proven intralogistics expert and specialist in the AutoStore sector, as part of our team", says Dr. Christian Baur, CEO at Swisslog. "With his knowhow, he will further strengthen Swisslog's market position as a leading AutoStore integrator with more than 200 installations worldwide and actively promote our focus strategy with new momentum."
Flexible and sustainable solutions
Jens Schmale has extensive expertise in developing OEM-related sales, implementation, and service organizations. Prior to joining Swisslog, Schmale was, among other things, managing director of a locally operating AutoStore distributor and, for many years, sales manager in the industrial truck business.
"I am very much looking forward to this exciting challenge," says Jens Schmale. "The demand for flexible and sustainable logistics solutions is high. In this respect, we are excellently positioned with the uniquely configurable AutoStore system paired with consultants, system designers and project managers is an enormous incentive for me. I have complete confidence that we can implement the simplicity of AutoStore quickly, reliably and with high quality. This is how we secure the crucial competitive advantage for our customers in their market.”
Modular and complete solutions with robotics
The simplicity of AutoStore makes it possible to design a wide variety of cost-effective solutions, from “stand alone” small systems up to large systems with over 100,000 bins as part of an overall logistics or production facility. Swisslog’s SynQ software prepares for possible expansions at the planning stage, allowing grid extension, additional conveyor technology or ItemPiQ picking robotics to be connected at a later stage. "A higher degree of standardization in the technology mix contributes to the modularity and thus sustainability," explains Schmale.
A long list of references shows that Swisslog customers are convinced of the quality and progressiveness of AutoStore. These include Brack.ch – online retailer from Switzerland, ASDA - supermarket chain from Great Britain, Varner – textile retailer from Norway, Weiling – organic retailer from Germany and IMA – packaging specialist from Italy, Rhenus Contract Logistics Netherlands, part of the Rhenus Group – global logistics services provider.
