On the basis of the IoT software framework SUSiEtec, the company will offer a wide range of different applications at the Nuremberg fair - from sensor to cloud - for TSN, OPC UA, artificial intelligence, machine learning and object recognition as well as secure OS and remote software updates and predictive maintenance. In addition to Microsoft Windows 10 IoT, Kontron also supports Linux with real-time extensions.
At embedded world, Kontron will also provide information about products and development services based on SOMs with processors from NXP, ST Microelectronics, NXP, and SBCs with Raspberry Pi. Scalable IoT edge computers, gateways, box PCs and HMIs with x86 and ARM, as well as industrial rackmount servers are also part of the trade fair portfolio.
Industry trends 2020
The importance of edge computing is growing. Concepts from the cloud and data center area, such as modular software in containers and SDN, are increasingly growing into the area of traditional embedded systems, making products even more flexible and secure. Research and development in Kontron's labs already show several proofs of concept that provide stable solutions for long-existing issues regarding remote software updates, continuous monitoring, dynamic network architecture and zero touch deployment. In addition, AI applications will in the future be able to be integrated even more quickly into computer-controlled machines and processes, for which Kontron supplies the corresponding hardware and services.
