NEURA Robotics and SECO S.p.A. have announced a strategic partnership to industrialize and scale Physical AI within Europe. Under the agreement, SECO will design, engineer, and manufacture electronic compute modules integrating Qualcomm Dragonwing™ processors for NEURA’s portfolio of cognitive robots, including the humanoid 4NE1.

Context of the Cooperation
Scaling embodied artificial intelligence and humanoid robotics from laboratory validation into high-volume industrial environments presents significant technical bottlenecks. Operating cognitive robots safely alongside humans requires high on-device AI performance, thermal efficiency, and deterministic, ultra-low-latency control across decentralized hardware architectures. Furthermore, establishing volume manufacturing necessitates resilient, localized supply chains to support production scale.

To address these hardware integration and scaling requirements, cooperation was established between German robotics developer NEURA Robotics and Italian embedded computing specialist SECO S.p.A. The alliance unites NEURA’s cognitive robotics platform, SECO’s embedded engineering and manufacturing capabilities, and Qualcomm Technologies’ edge processors to advance European technological sovereignty in Physical AI.

Technical Solution and Responsibilities
The technical architecture centers on a decentralized "Brain + Nervous System" model powered by NEURA’s "Smart Limbs" concept, which distributes compute and sensing modules throughout the robot's physical structure rather than concentrating them in a central unit. Responsibilities are divided across the companies to align hardware industrialization with robotic control systems:
  • NEURA Robotics provides the overall Physical AI system architecture, cognitive software stack, and robotic platforms, including the 4NE1 humanoid.
  • SECO S.p.A. leads the design, engineering, qualification, and volume manufacturing of embedded electronic compute modules in Europe, integrating Qualcomm Dragonwing processors.
  • Qualcomm Technologies supplies the underlying Dragonwing Robotics processors that deliver on-device AI processing and low-latency motor control.
At a system level, placing compute modules in proximity to joints and sensors enables decentralized, real-time decision-making at the physical interaction points. This localized responsiveness allows robots to operate safely and adaptively in collaborative human work environments. The modules serve as a standardized hardware backbone across NEURA's product family and connect with the broader Neuraverse ecosystem to allow learned capabilities to serve as reusable building blocks for automated systems.

Deployment or Implementation
The implementation strategy focuses on establishing European production lines for the compute hardware while initiating phased deployment programs across industrial manufacturing. Initial development will prioritize automation solutions for semiconductor and electronics manufacturing facilities, utilizing operational feedback from active robot deployments to train machines on complex production workflows.

As part of the roadmap, the partners plan to establish a NEURA Gym in Italy, serving as NEURA’s first robotic training hub in Southern Europe. The facility will collect real-world production data and validate robot operational policies in authentic physical environments, supporting the scalable rollout of 4NE1 humanoids and cognitive robots into industrial facilities globally.
