Manufacturing, industrial software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are increasingly central to improving operational efficiency and enabling data-driven decision-making. In this context, IFS AB and NEC Corporation are deploying the IFS Cloud platform as a next-generation core system for Hoshizaki Corporation, supporting digital transformation across its production operations.
The implementation will support more than 700 users across two production sites, replacing legacy ERP systems and establishing a foundation for AI-enabled manufacturing.
Transition from legacy ERP to a unified platform
Hoshizaki’s existing ERP environment is characterised by extensive customisation and fragmented supporting systems, limiting operational flexibility and data utilisation. The transition to IFS Cloud aims to consolidate core business functions, including order management, production planning, manufacturing execution, and inventory control, into a single integrated platform.
This standardisation reduces reliance on customised configurations while enabling easier system updates and alignment with future software releases.
Supporting make-to-order manufacturing
The IFS Cloud platform is designed to accommodate both standardised processes and flexible production models, including make-to-order manufacturing. This is particularly relevant for industries with diverse product portfolios and variable production requirements.
By maintaining standard system configurations where possible, Hoshizaki aims to optimise implementation and maintenance costs while preserving the ability to adapt to changing production needs.
Enabling AI-driven manufacturing optimisation
A key objective of the deployment is to enable the use of industrial AI in manufacturing operations. By centralising data across core processes, the platform provides the structured data environment required for advanced analytics and optimisation.
This includes real-time visibility into operations, supporting improved decision-making and enabling future applications such as predictive planning and process optimisation within the IFS ecosystem.
Role of system integration and scalability
NEC Corporation is supporting the implementation as a strategic partner, contributing experience in large-scale manufacturing IT transformation. The resulting ERP infrastructure is designed to be scalable, supporting future expansion and evolving operational requirements.
The deployment reflects a broader industry trend toward modern ERP systems that integrate data across the value chain while enabling the adoption of AI and digital technologies.
Applications in industrial manufacturing
The system is expected to support a wide range of manufacturing activities, from production scheduling to inventory management and order fulfilment. By improving data consistency and process integration, the platform enhances operational efficiency and provides a foundation for continuous improvement initiatives.
Through this implementation, IFS AB, NEC Corporation, and Hoshizaki Corporation are advancing the adoption of scalable, AI-ready ERP systems in industrial manufacturing environments.
