MOBOTIX AG Introduces Modular 4K Dual Camera for Discreet Industrial Applications

Designed for industrial automation, transportation, access control and high-security environments, MOBOTIX AG has launched the S ONE DUAL, a modular dual-sensor camera with two 4K UHD modules, integrated AI-based video analytics and rugged IP66/NEMA-4X protection for operation from –40 to +65 °C.

A Modular Dual-Sensor Architecture for Concealed Integration
The S ONE DUAL expands MOBOTIX’s decentralized video technology portfolio as the successor to the S16 platform. Its defining characteristic is the separation of the processing unit from the image sensors.

Two 4K UHD sensor modules can be connected to the concealed core unit via several-meter cables, enabling near-invisible installation. This architecture supports integration in vehicles, industrial machinery, barrier systems, production lines and custom enclosures where visible camera bodies would be exposed or vulnerable.

By physically separating optics and processing, the system increases design flexibility while reducing tampering risks.

Rugged Construction for Industrial and Outdoor Use
The camera housing is certified to IP66 and NEMA-4X standards, ensuring protection against dust, heavy rain, and corrosive environments. It operates reliably in temperatures ranging from –40 °C to +65 °C, covering both cold-storage and high-heat industrial conditions.

The sensor modules are IK10-rated for vandal resistance. The housing includes reinforced lens protection developed specifically by MOBOTIX, improving durability in exposed installations.

An integrated mounting plate with the same drill pattern as the previous S16 simplifies retrofit and replacement projects.

AI-Based Video Analytics Running Fully On-Device
A central feature of the S ONE DUAL is the integrated ActivitySensor ONE application. This AI-powered video analytics solution runs entirely on the camera without external servers or cloud processing.

The system detects motion, persons, vehicles, direction of movement and loitering behavior simultaneously across both sensor channels. Intelligent filtering reduces false alarms triggered by rain, changing light conditions, shadows, animals or moving vegetation.

Processing directly at the edge ensures low latency, reduced network load, optimized VMS performance and full data sovereignty.

4K Image Quality with Wide Dynamic Range
Each 1/1.8" sensor module delivers 4K UHD resolution with 120 dB wide dynamic range (WDR), enabling reliable image capture in scenes with strong brightness contrast. Automatic day/night switching ensures consistent performance in varying light conditions.

Each module integrates a microphone, ambient light sensor and RGB status LED.
The camera supports multiple codecs including H.264, H.265, MxPEG+ and MJPEG, allowing system integrators to balance bandwidth, storage capacity and image quality.

Standalone Operation and Energy Efficiency
With up to 2 TB of internal storage and a pre-installed 64 GB microSD card, the S ONE DUAL supports standalone operation without continuous network recording.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) with consumption below 10 W simplifies installation and reduces energy requirements in distributed surveillance deployments.

Typical Application Scenarios
The modular architecture and rugged specifications position the camera for:
  • Industrial machinery and automated production systems
  • Video-monitored access control and barrier systems
  • Warehousing and logistics centers
  • Discreet surveillance installations
  • Public and special-purpose vehicles including buses and trains
By combining modular 4K imaging, on-device AI analytics and industrial-grade protection, the S ONE DUAL addresses application environments where conventional fixed-body cameras are either too visible or insufficiently protected.
