Dürr AG Introduces EcoAUC2 Application Control Unit

Dürr has launched the EcoAUC2, a next-generation control unit for automated paint application systems. The system centralizes control of dosing technology, applicators and auxiliary components, supporting reliable and efficient coating processes in industrial production environments.

Extended Control Functions for Application Systems
The EcoAUC2 expands the scope of controlled components compared to its predecessor. In addition to dosing technology and applicators, the unit integrates control of a high-speed unloader to improve cycle times and enhance operational safety in high-voltage environments.

An optional integrated air heater can also be regulated by the control system. This supports consistent application quality, particularly in humid or warm production conditions where environmental parameters can affect coating performance.

To simplify integration into modern plant architectures, the EcoAUC2 supports industrial communication protocols including PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and DeviceNet. These interfaces enable data exchange with higher-level production systems and plant networks.

Integrated Cleaning Equipment Control
For the first time, the cleaning equipment for Dürr atomizers is fully controlled via the application control unit. This reduces system integration complexity and centralizes process coordination.

In applications involving the high-speed rotary atomizer EcoBell2, the EcoAUC2 automatically verifies that high voltage has been safely deactivated before initiating the cleaning cycle. Only after confirming a de-energized state does the system enable cleaning. This function improves process safety and reduces the risk of hazardous conditions during maintenance or automated cleaning operations.

Increased Colour and Hardener Capacity
The EcoAUC2 doubles the supported colour channels from 10 to 20. This extension addresses increasing demand for product personalization and expanded colour palettes in industrial coating processes.

The unit also increases hardener management capacity from three to five components. This allows implementation of more complex paint formulations, including less frequently used multi-component systems.

The system is embedded in Dürr’s ready2integrate concept, which follows a plug-and-play principle. Pre-tested and certified configurations are matched to the respective dosing and application technology, enabling rapid commissioning on site without extensive adaptation.

An oversized display supports intuitive operation and process monitoring, providing operators with centralized visualization of application parameters and system status.
