DMG MORI receives Digitization Award for CELOS NEXT
DMG MORI receives the “Intelligent Manufacturing Award 2020” from Microsoft and Roland Berger in the "Envision" category.
With the “Intelligent Manufacturing Award”, Microsoft and Roland Berger are honoring benchmark projects in industrial digitization. The award honors innovative cases of digitization from discrete manufacturing as well as the process or automotive industry. The award is considered one of the most prestigious awards for digital excellence. The motto this time: “Innovate. Transform. Compete.” One of this year’s winners: DMG MORI. The company received the award in the “Envision!” category. The consistently and innovatively driven digitization strategy with CELOS NEXT was worthy of the award.
The CELOS NEXT solution offered in the second half of the year is a hybrid edge/cloud platform with which complete process chains can be individually integrated and digitized. "“With CELOS NEXT, DMG MORI connects the digital shop floor of its customers with existing software systems and digital supply chains. Unique is the manufacturer-independent connectivity, the consistency of the data and the customizable CELOS Apps," emphasizes Christian Thönes, Chairman of the Executive Board of DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT.
Satya Nadella of Microsoft had already summed it up in April 2020: “The world experienced two years of digital transformation in just two months.” This acceleration continues to increase. Waiting is not an option. For Christian Thönes, Chairman of the Executive Board DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, investing in innovation is therefore the only way out of the crisis. Rethinking and successfully shaping the future of the machine tool industry with digitalization is firmly anchored in DMG MORI's DNA for years.
“As a technology leader, we have aligned our digitization strategy consistently and holistically along the entire value chain,” emphasizes Christian Thönes. This is done internally in the company's own application and testing of products and services, as well as externally in close partnership with important customers and partners - such as Microsoft.
Mr. Thönes is convinced that this end-to-end digitization in particular is crucial for growth and competitiveness in the future.
It is precisely the consistency and holistic nature of the digital offering that has now also convinced the top-class jury of the “Microsoft Intelligent Automation Award 2020”. DMG MORI has been honored as an industry pioneer in the “Envision!” category.
60 industrial companies submitted their applications for the award. Microsoft and the management consultancy Roland Berger are the organizers. Every year, the award is given to companies that set exemplary impulses. The award also honors the willingness to break new ground and the potential for new business and work models. The award is presented in five categories plus an overall winner:
- “Innovate!” evaluates the application of technologies
- “Scale!” awards maturity, growth and scalability
- “Add Value!” decides according to optimization and sales potentials
- “Envision!” distinguishes the visionary and transformational significance
- “Educate!” selects new scientific approaches
“The “Microsoft Intelligent Manufacturing Award” is a great confirmation for our entire Global One Company and means additional motivation,” Christian Thönes is pleased about the award. He explicitly refers to the further transformation from a pure machine tool manufacturer to an end-to-end partner for industrial digitalization across the entire value chain.
With investments in the high double-digit million range, DMG MORI had continuously expanded the quality and breadth of its digital offering in recent years. “As a result of our consistent upfront investments, we are now in a position to jointly and holistically implement digitization in companies as trailblazers,” says Christian Thönes.
