maxon presents a humanoid robot and current product highlights at SPS 2024
At the SPS 2024 trade show in Nuremberg from November 12th to 14th, maxon will present the first complete prototype of the humanoid robot, HOPE. HOPE is driven by maxon EC-i motors and the company's own controllers.
Rob Knight, the developer of the robot, will be present at the maxon booth throughout the trade show. maxon will also be showcasing current highlights from its product range, including the new "Strain Wave" shaft gearhead, which will be making its trade show debut.
Drives for robots are an important business segment for the maxon Group. maxon develops and manufactures customized components for autonomous mobile and industrial robots, including humanoid, four-legged or collaborative robots or agricultural and service robots.
The prototype of the humanoid robot HOPE shows how maxon drives are used in robotics in a very practical way. The robot along with its developer, Rob Knight from "The Robot Studio" will be present at the maxon SPS stand in Nuremberg. With a height of two meters and the ability to move freely and keep its balance for up to an hour, HOPE offers exciting insights into its functionality. Visitors can interact with HOPE on site.
HOPE is powered by four maxon EC-i 40 drives in each of the arms. These are brushless motors with an iron-core winding and internal rotor, which develop high dynamics and high torques in the smallest of spaces. The robot also includes six EC90 flat motors and is controlled by maxon’s EPOS4 positioning controllers.
Rob Knight and his HOPE robot can be seen from November 12th to 14th at SPS in Nuremberg, Hall 3, Stand 260.
Other maxon products highlighted at SPS includes:
- Drives: on display, in addition to the EC-i 40 described above, are the following drives: High Efficiency Joint 90 (an extremely compact, integrated and efficient robot drive system that contains all subsystems for a complete motion solution, e.g. electronics, motor, gearhead and sensors); ECX Prime 6 and 16 (brushless BLDC motors with high torques at high speeds) and the ECX Flat 22, 32 and 42 (flat motors with external, multi-pole rotor, particularly suitable for limited space).
- Gearheads : maxon will be premiering the new "Strain Wave" shaft gearhead, which will be available from next year and standsfor high precision and compactness .
- Controllers: With ESCON2, maxon is presenting the further development of its proven controller product line, which is now also available for highly miniaturized applications. The MicroMACS6, the freely programmable and ultra-compact multi-axis motion controller, will also be on show.
- Further highlights: The heavy-duty motors from Parvalux by maxon, technical ceramics and the maxon e-bike drive BIKEDRIVE AIR will also be on display.
